Abena Appah-Sampong, MD is a general surgery resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She completed a bachelor’s degree at the University of Chicago in public policy and biology prior to attending the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine for her medical training. She will be completing two years of academic development time under the mentorship of Dr. Hussain and Dr. Bikdeli. Her current work includes validating tools to accurately identify patients with peripheral artery disease in electronic health databases and characterizing racial and ethnic disparities in cardiovascular disease outcomes. In her free time, she enjoys creating pottery, singing, exploring new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.
