Avery Thompson, MD, MPH, is a general surgery resident at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. She is originally from Portland, Oregon and received her B.S. in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from Yale followed by an M.P.H. in Chronic Disease Epidemiology and Global Health from the Yale School of Public Health. She received her M.D. from UCSF, where she developed a passion for surgical education. Her other research interests include health disparities and trauma systems. She is also a Research Fellow through the Program in Global Surgery and Social Change (PGSSC) where her projects focus on improving access to blood transfusions in low-resource settings.
