The Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Center for Trauma Innovation has awarded the FORTE study with an injury prevention start-up grant for its project “Routine collection of post-discharge functional outcomes after injury using smartphone-based digital phenotyping.” Leveraging the infrastructure previously developed for the FORTE (Functional Outcomes and Recovery After Trauma Emergencies) project, and using the Beiwe app and research platform, the Stepping Strong Center is providing $28K to PI Juan P. Herrera-Escobar, MD, MPH and his team to realize two goals: (1) determine the feasibility and acceptability of passive smartphone sensor and use data collection among trauma survivors; and (2) determine the feasibility and acceptability of using smartphone-based technology to collect patient-reported functional, social, and mental health outcomes post-discharge after injury.
