Research Assistant

Robert Semco is a Research Assistant working with Dr. Regan Bergmark and Dr. Joel Weissman at the Center for Surgery and Public Health, Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He is investigating how race, ethnicity, and socioeconomic status affect access to high quality surgery in the US with Dr. Bergmark, and is investigating the facilitators, barriers, and disparities in the receipt of Advanced Care Planning among the Medicare population with Dr. Weissman. His research interests include disparities in access to surgery, surgical system strengthening, and innovation in health care delivery. He graduated from Case Western Reserve University with a degree in Macromolecular Science and Engineering in 2018 and completed a researcher traineeship under Dr. Bergmark at the Center for Surgery and Public Health in 2020.
